WhenI was doing my practice teaching, I found that teachers in NO.8 Middle Schooltried very hard to teach new words. They have taught many times but thestudents are hard to remember them. The students had copied the words for manytimes, but they could not get a good result.

 I took a research to find out that nearlyall the English teachers in the school use the same ways to teach new Englishwords. They taught the students to read for several times and then ask them tocopy the words for many times, which made the students feels very boring andhates to learn the words. I thought we can change this situation by using somemore methods like easy songs, poems, activities and board simplified drawings. paper51.com

 I used several methods of problem analysisto analyze the problem. They are the analytic method, cause analysis, interviewand brainstorming. Through the problem analysis, I came to know that wecertainly can change the situation. I have made up my mind to design anexperiment to see if I was right.

Wordsare the basics of a language. If you want to communicate in a language freely,you need to know a lot of words which you know their meanings and can use them.These words will help you to understand others and express yourself correctly. “Languagestudy involves the study of speech sounds, grammar and vocabulary. Vocabularyhas proved particularly important and certainly difficult… no matter how wellthe student learns grammar; no matter how successfully he masters the sounds ofa language, without words to express a wild range of meanings, communication inthat language cannot happen in any meaningful way. The role of vocabulary incommunication calls for continuing vocabulary learning(张维友,1999:3)”.

Ifanyone has motivations when doing something, he may also have power to finishit. No matter what difficulties he meets, he will overcome them. “Motivationsinclude four specific ones. They are instrumental motivation --- to pass anexamination, to get a better job, or to get a place at university. Integrativemotivation --- the learners are interested in the people and culturerepresented by the target-language group. Resultative motivation --- learnerswho experience success on learning may become more, or in some contexts, lessmotivated to learn. Intrinsic motivation --- learners are interested in thelanguage (Rod Ellis, 2000:75)”. The varied teaching techniques make the classvery interesting. This will make the students want to learn the words. Inanother word, we can increase their motivations in a variety of ways. Ofcourse, remembering of the words also needs techniques. “Diversified reviewrequired us to use many senses to review the knowledge like vision, listening,reading, doing exercises and thinking. This can make us feel novelty, have deepimpression of the knowledge and have interests. So, our review will be moreeffective (郭黎岩,2002:149)”.

Easysongs are helpful for the learners to learn a language. Nearly every peoplelike singing and they will feel happy while singing, so one can remember thesongs easily especially easy songs. If we put the new words into a melody, wecertainly can remember the words easily. This kind of teaching method can makethe whole class become active. The students will be eager to learn the newwords and the teacher can make a good relationship with his/her students. Afterclass, the students may also keep singing consciously or unconsciously.   “If the students want to studyvocabulary well, they should use their eyes, ears mouths, hands and all kindsof senses to comprehend the pronunciation, spelling and meaning of a word toform a comprehensive structure of vocabulary. Then they should integrate thisstructure of vocabulary with knowledge and experience they have had to developtheir ability of memorizing and applying vocabulary.
