Lyman Frank Baum (15 May 1856—6 May 1919) was an American author, poet,playwright, actor, and independent filmmaker. He was born to Benjamin and Cynthia Ann Stanton Baum on May15, 1856 in Chittenango, New York (Algeo 74).One of his most popularbooks in American children’sliterature is The WonderfulWizard of Oz and he is famous for it. Although Frank Baum is mainly famous for that one book, hewrote a good many other children’s stories, including 13 additional Oz books, avariety of other fairy tales, short stories, and verses, and several series ofgirls’ and boys’ books.
