Task-basedlanguage teaching (TBLT) is also called task-based learning, which is animportant language teaching theory and learning model. It is based on the Second Language Acquisitionstudy and it was put forward under the second language acquisition study since1980s. Nowadays many countries adopt the task-based language teaching method intheir pedagogical syllabus and curriculum. In our National Compulsory EducationEnglish Syllabus for Normal Middle School, thelessons are expected to be employed by task-based language teaching method andthe teachers are expected to use the task-based language teaching model asteaching methods. (2001:1)TBLT advocates the teachers to design varioustasks to train the students’ ability to do things by using English. It is learning beyond language learning,learning by doing, learning by / through / in using, learning in groups.Task-based English learning can developintegrated skills including learning skills and life skills along withlinguistic skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, translating andcommunicative competence. 2.1The background of TBLT

The method of TBLT can be found first in EnglishLanguage Syllabus in schools Malaysian in 1975. From 1979 to 1984, British linguisticanProbhu started the English teaching reformation experiment named BangaloreProject in India.The feature of his project is “learning through using”. He adopted task-basedsyllabus to organize his teaching project. (魏永红,2004:16)Prabhu’sBangalore Project provides a lot of thoughts for the reformation of secondlanguage teaching, which can be approved in the appearance of populartask-based language teaching in 1980s.
